BECOME AN INTERN AT SOUND ART LAB

Do you want to be part of an international artist community? At Sound Art Lab, you get the opportunity to help shape the development and prevalence of sound art in Denmark and abroad.

Sound Art Lab is looking for an intern who can be part of a small cultural institution's varied task portfolio. Your educational background can be anything from an art historian to a sound designer. The most important thing is that you want to work with sound technology in an artistic way. In addition, it is possible to influence the internship in different ways within education and communication, event planning and settlement and funding and evaluation.

Possible work tasks can therefore be:

  • Audio technical assistance in connection with artists in residence and at events.

  • Assistance in the development and execution of teaching and education activities

  • SoMe reports from everyday life and events

  • Website update and newsletter

  • Planning and conducting events, including preparation of invitations, catering and hosting

  • Preparation and distribution of marketing material and press material, including outreach PR work.

  • Contribution to fund applications

  • Evaluation of Sound Art Lab’s first year

As an intern at Sound Art Lab, you will be part of the daily work tasks, but you will also have the opportunity to try to be a facilitator at specific workshops or events.

You will be part of a small, dynamic team, which consists of leader, Jacob Eriksen, art educators, Nicole Pedersen and Isa Asboe as well as the artistic janitor Kristoffer Due. You will work closely with all of us in the office, and you will have the opportunity to get acquainted with our many partners in art and culture (both locally, nationally and internationally), businesses, municipalities and educational institutions.

At Sound Art Lab, we place great emphasis on the internship being an educational course that must ensure our interns an in-depth professional knowledge of the work in a cultural institution, as well as the greatest possible personal development.

We therefore offer:

  • A personal attached internship supervisor throughout the internship.

  • Regular development interviews with the internship supervisor.

  • Feedback on relevant tasks.

The deadline for applying to the internship is ongoing, and so are the interviews. The duration of the internship can vary depending on which tasks you are involved in.

About Sound Art Lab

Sound Art Lab is an environment for artistic development and production focusing on sound. Our dedicated facilities are designed to support artistic projects in sound across different genres and formats. In our education lab we offer classes and workshops centering on sound and listening. We offer residencies, short-term stays, courses and education, everything with sound art as the focal point.

We are part of the City of Sound

Since the founding of Bang & Olufsen in 1925, sound has been part of Struer's DNA.

The identity as the “city of sound” means that there is sound on the agenda everywhere in Struer from schools to elderly care, and sound art plays a central role in urban development and urban planning. The City of Sound is the municipality's common narrative and platform for collaboration between many different actors, which together create Struer's future development.
